ABout CHRIS

 

 

Chris Furrer is a Chicago-based actor originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.  With theater and musicals as his first love, he received his BA in Theater/INFA Music Theater from Indiana University of Pennsylvania along with a minor in Communications/Multimedia.  While at IUP, he played such roles as The Baker in Into the Woods, Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Vernon Hines in The Pajama Game amongst others and was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award by the Department of Theater and Dance.  Other favorite roles include CB in Dog Sees God (Acorn Honors Project), Greta in Bent (Acorn Honors Project), Dave Bukatinsky in The Full Monty (Bigfork Summer Playhouse), and Rod in Avenue Q (Keystone Repertory Theater).

 

For four years, he served as a writer, performer, and president of the sketch comedy group: The Company (Indiana, PA).  In 2015, he received Recommended passes in Unarmed, Rapier and Dagger, and Broadsword by the SAFD (Dean Michael Hood/Fight Master Michael G. Chin) and remains a certified actor combatant.  With an interest in film, Chris along with J.A.C.K. Productions received the Great Golden McGufflin Award from the Jimmy Stewart Museum for their short film: Jimmy Stewart in the 1950s.

 

Since being in Chicago, he has had the privilege of working on a handful of rewarding projects.  He understudied the role of Eisenstein and was in the Ensemble of Music Theater Works’ production of Die Fledermaus. He participated in the new musical Liberators at the Chicago Musical Theater Festival as well as playing the role of Man 1/Fogg in Theo Ubique’s Jeff Award winning production of Sweeney Todd, along with understudying the role of Beadle Bamford.  Currently, he is understudying the roles of The Baker, Jack, and the Steward in Music Theater Work’s production of Into the Woods. 

 

When he's not performing, Chris enjoys writing, reading, meditation, cooking, live music, spending time with family, and keeping up on his personal health and fitness.
